How to Get There

For locals (by car)

The Brecon Beacons are easily reached via the A470 from Cardiff (1 hr), Swansea (1 hr), and Hereford (1 hr).

Well-signposted car parks at Pen y Fan, waterfalls, and visitor centres; some free, most charge a small daily rate

By public transport

The nearest mainline train stations are AbergavennyMerthyr Tydfil, and Llandovery Buses from Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, and Abergavenny connect to Brecon

For foreign visitors

Closest airports are Cardiff Airport (1.5 hrs) and Bristol Airport (1.5–2 hrs). From London, trains to Abergavenny or Merthyr Tydfil, then bus/taxi to the park
